Yesterday was a special Sunday.
We woke up and put on our Sunday best. Kenny looked sharp in his new tie from me and Eliza for Father's Day. I wore heels for the first time in ages.
We got into our teal Ford Taurus and tried not to argue as we barely made it to church.
I was called to stand during sacrament meeting. I was released from my beloved Sunday School calling with the youth and then sustained to a new calling in Primary.
Immediately following our first meeting, I went to my 12-13 year old Sunday School class to say goodbye. I gave them cake pops (they love them, but who doesn't?) and individual cards where I wrote how awesome they each were as best as I could. As I left, I yelled over my loud class (always loud) "Goodbye, love you guys!!" And they shouted goodbye back. After being with these wonderful youth for a year, I'll definitely miss their bright faces and witty remarks.
Then, for the first time since I was eleven, I sat in Primary. I held whimpering Eliza in my lap because she had hysterically (with tears and screaming) refused to go to her nursery class.
I introduced myself to the kids and they sang the "hello" song to me. I sat back and watched one of the leaders teach a lesson about the Holy Ghost with a "cooking class" object lesson. She told the kids that she forgot her cookbook and forgot how to make cake. She began adding flour, sugar, chocolate chips, an egg still in its shell, and a jar of tomato sauce amidst the kids' appalled laughter.
Music time was wonderful as I watched my good friend teach the kids a new song and I got to hear her gorgeous "Nashville" voice as she taught the words to the song.
Then I experienced it all again with the older Primary kids while I got helpful whispers from the other leaders teaching me what I'll be doing in the coming weeks.
It felt surreal being in Primary again, like a memory that hadn't popped into my mind for years, but I loved it.
Kenny gave a great lesson third hour amidst the chaos of distributing pie to the men for Father's Day. Kenny and Eliza looked adorable together in their matching blues.
Yesterday was also the day before little Eliza turned twenty months. I can't believe it! She is such a sweet, vivacious, silly little girl who just learned to give smooches and hugs. She babbles constantly and sings "da da, da da." She also just learned to throw her head up and howl like a husky dog. Incredibly adorable.
I would also like to mention that she is little. She is pictured in a size nine months dress and looks so sweet in it.
