Fashion Fave #6: Navy square dress
When a dress rich with color and embroidery reminds you of Rapunzel, you must buy/wear it. Maybe it's the length and cut or maybe it's the bodice, but this dress makes me feel like a maiden or peasant from a fairy tale novel (the kind where you walk around barefoot in the forest with whimsical objects like waterfalls and fairies (yes, here goes my fairy feddish again)).
This dress is another favorite from Tropikalia Bazaar. The dress had enough going on that I did not accessorize (notice even no shoes.) The colors and patterns are gorgeous and lively, yet classic and calm. Eliza matched me with a navy blue damask romper bringing out her stunning blue eyes. These captured moments encompass our special week of bonding and having a growing love of the ocean.
Thank you It's All About Time by Lauren Rae.
Fashion Fave #5: Galactic Jogger Pants
I was surprised by how much I liked the galactic line of joggers, athletic shirts, and skirts this summer at Rue 21. The print is colorful and just cool. These galactic joggers were around $16.99 at full price, but I was happy to get them on sale for $6.99. I've since gotten similar joggers for $3 because they are so comfortable and majorly on sale in store right now.
So I LOVE these joggers because...
1. Super soft and stretchy (92% polyester, 8% spandex baby)
2. Gorgeous design; I look past the fact that there is a galaxy on my butt and try to imagine these colors in the sky.
3. And so (here comes my favorite word) versatile. They're like leggings that can acceptably be worn as pants. I bike, sleep, shop, and chase my toddler in them.
These joggers are not the same but similar (I'd wait for them to go on sale). This galactic necklace, however, is gorgeous and only $1.58 on Amazon.
I was psyched to find a matching galaxy shirt for Kenny (twins!).
Fashion Fave #4: Tee Shirt Dresses
About a month ago, my friends gathered at a fancy sushi restaurant for a goodbye dinner. One of the girls showed up in an adorable, orange tee-shirt dress. We asked her where she got it and about five of us went out and bought the dress (luckily we got different colors).
This jersey swing dress was on sale at Old Navy for $12.99 at the time. It's currently $26.94 and comes in tall and petite. I bought an extra large for length but love the oversized tee shirt look. Rayon is seriously the most wonderful fabric in the world with its cool and flowing aura.
I accessorized with a $5 black flower statement necklace and $5 canvas espadrilles shoes, both from Walmart. Total, this outfit cost $23. A steal for sure!
The "mountains" in these pictures are near my house and I walk this path often for the seclusion and view.
Something about the wind and flowing grass swishing my dress around made me feel free.
Fashion Fave #3: Extra relaxed boyfriend jeans
Loose fitting and comfortable are my best friends. I have tried on several pairs of boyfriend jeans in the last few months and I just wasn't feeling the fit on any of them. I finally came across these very relaxed boyfriend jeans at Target and knew I wanted to make them work. I modified the jeans a little with some iron-on patches on the upper holes. I searched for the perfect top and was surprised that the jeans looked excellent with a relaxed fit tee shirt. 100% rayon is amazing and I love the color and sleeves (No, I don't have a secret drinking problem (obviously); I just like the shirt).
This outfit feels wonderful on a lazy summer day reading a book or taking a walk. I would also wear this outfit on a date at a restaurant, arcade, or pier (exclusively).
So I will just say, Monday, don't take it personally.
Fashion Fave #2: This Maxi Dress
Nothing makes you feel more like a princess than a form fitting maxi dress. When I first saw this dress on Tropikalia Bazaar, I was unsure about all of the wild pinks, oranges, and yellows. However, the second I slipped it on, I was in love.
The pattern on the back and the sleeves of the dress that resembles a surf board or shark is eye-catching and unique. The polyester and spandex material keeps the dress cool on my skin and stretchy around my chest and waist. I chose rhinestone leaf ear pins and an Aztec style necklace to accessorize the dress.
If I am ever found wandering in the rainforests of the Amazon (I'm being totally serious), I will certainly be wearing this dress.
Fashion Fave #1: Kimonos
I am a huge fan of discount shopping and I am so excited to start this fashion section on my blog. What I choose to highlight as a "fashion fave" will be cheap in price and I will be absolutely obsessed with it.
This week, my latest find/obsession is the kimono. I had wanted one for awhile and was lucky to find one for $10 at Ross. They are colorful and graceful and sexy. I feel refined, rhythmic, and beautiful with it sitting on my shoulders and swaying at my sides.
I wore my kimono with a tee shirt and shorts, but I am super psyched to pair it with a bathing suit later this summer at the beach.
I was lucky to find mine for ten bucks but I found some other super cute kimonos at some of my favorite stores.
Rue 21: LOVE the fringed ends on this kimono.
Forever 21: Rose print is hot (obviously) and I like the maxi style on this one.
Piper Street: Here's a favorite with the cutest trim.
Which kimono would you rock?
