Baby Boy Reveal

Even before I was pregnant, I had a hunch my next baby would be a boy. In the beginning of this pregnancy, I had feelings similar to when I was pregnant with Eliza, where with her, I was pretty sure she was girl, and with this pregnancy, I was pretty sure he was a boy. I could not wait, however, to finally have it confirmed.
On the day of my ultrasound, despite being almost late, I stopped at a gas station to grab some OJ, just in case the baby didn't want to move. As we sped to my appointment, I noticed mold at the top of the bottle, so I had to go to my ultrasound without my "backup" plan.
The ultrasound began and I told the tech not to reveal the gender out loud if she saw it, because Kenny wanted to see the baby but be surprised later in the day. I was excited to finally see the baby's face and arms and legs and just any movement. But I began to get nervous because the tech said the baby was footling breech, making it very hard to see anything. Eliza was adorable saying hi to the baby and wanting to touch the screen to be closer.
After enjoying the baby's cute kicks and seeing the heart, Kenny and Eliza left the room. My mom, who I was so glad could come, and I begged the tech to try looking one more time.
Finally, we clearly saw something and that something was clearly a boy!
We spent the rest of the day trying to throw Kenny off track before the reveal. We told him that we hadn't seen anything, but the tech did and we believed her. I also truly kept accidentally saying "she," and Kenny thought he kept "catching" me. When I threw out a "he," Kenny was really confused.
The reveal was magical. We went to one of our favorite walking destinations with the beautiful Pennsylvania foothills in the background, while my good friend Sarah Miller, with her business Cedar & London Photography, set up for the big moment.
As the first balloons popped out with the sun setting, Kenny was sufficiently surprised and exclaimed, "So you did see something!"
Eliza was in love with the balloons and blue lollipops, although I know that she will be head over heels for her baby brother, especially when he comes. She already is very helpful bringing bottles, binkies, and socks for our friend's baby, Taven.
With the combination of the ultrasound and the constant kicking, I am just beside myself with love and excitement to meet this little man. May November come quickly all ready!

Thanks again London & Cedar Photography for the heartwarming photos!

Priesthood site with Mom

While Kenny went to a five-day long conference, Mom and I cleaned and bargain shopped...a lot. On Saturday, we took Eliza and drove three hours to the Priesthood Restoration Site. With both us of being church history "gurus," it was like Christmas. This beautiful site by the Susquehanna River surrounded by groves of trees reminded me of Palmyra. It was amazing to watch the new video about the site and walk on the holy grounds where the priesthood was restored and 70% of the Book of Mormon was translated. I felt empathy seeing the burial site for Joseph and Emma's first child. What incredible, strong people.
